Types of Floor Covering

1- What is Epoxy Floor Coating?

Epoxy, a chemical resin type, is suitable for use on different surfaces due to its high chemical resistance. It is applied as a liquid and after drying becomes a floor resistant to abrasion, moisture, water and acid. Easy to clean, antibacterial and wide color scale are the reasons to be preferred. There are varieties such as transparent, anti-static and orange peel.

2- What is PVC Floor Covering?

PVC and vinyl have the same meaning. PVC, which is a synthetic plastic type prepared from ethylene and chlorine, has a life of 15-20 years. Vinyl is produced in two forms, homogeneous and heterogeneous, as roll and tile. It is a flexible and durable material. It has a low reflection of ground defects. It is hygienic due to its low liquid penetration rate. It is widely used in hospitals, offices and schools.

a- What is Homogeneous Vinyl?

The color scale is wide in the homogeneous vinyl consisting of a single layer, but the pattern cannot be given since there is no design layer. Due to its homogeneity, no abrasion is encountered. Requires varnish 5-6 years after use.

b- Heterogeneous Vinyl?

There is pvc foam at the bottom, a pattern layer with the design in the middle and a protection layer at the top. The protection layer can wear out over time.

c- What is Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)?

Produced as a tile board, LVT is preferred for areas without screed or without a smooth floor. It means luxury vinyl. It has more color and texture types.

3- What is Linoleum Floor Covering?

Linoleum, formerly known as linoleum, contains 96% natural products such as linseed oil, wood resin, sawdust flour, textile layer and limestone, and 4% artificial material such as polyurethane. Because it is a natural material, it is generally preferred in schools. It is produced in 200 cm wide rolls. It is not resistant to moisture and heat. It is harder to clean compared to vinyl and is a harder material. This situation creates difficulties in its implementation. Skirting cannot be made of the same material. It is recommended to use aluminum or PVC when turning.

4- What is Parquet Flooring?

a- What is Laminate Flooring?

Laminate flooring has a four-layer material structure. The bottom layer contains balance paper, the second layer contains MDF (medium density fiberboard) or HDF (high density fiberboard), the third layer contains a high-resolution parquet photograph, and the final layer contains a varnish layer. Since there are many types of printing, it is easy to find the desired pattern and color, but it has an artificial appearance. In case of possible scratches or breakage, it should be renewed, it is not possible to repair.

b- What is Laminated Parquet?

Unlike laminate flooring, laminated flooring is made of natural materials and is healthy. Although laminated parquets do not show high resistance to abrasion, they can be repaired. It breathes thanks to its porous structure.

c- What is Solid Parquet?

Solid parquet is created only by shaping without interfering with the structure of the wood. It is a long-lasting, natural, healthy and aesthetic material. Even if it is polished many times, it does not lose its appearance. Since it is natural, care must be taken in its use.

5- What is Rubber Flooring?

This floor covering (zemin kaplama) material produced using rubber paste, filler and pigment; It is suitable for outdoor use as it is suitable for outdoor conditions. It is a material with high abrasion resistance, resistant to chemicals and water, and aids in sound insulation. It is widely used in parks, hiking trails, tennis courts, sports halls, garages. It can be preferred in kindergartens and school gardens thanks to its hygienic structure that does not keep dirt.

6- What is Polyurethane Floor Coating?

Polyurethane, a solid and flexible material, is used extensively in parking lots, sports halls, markets, shopping malls and hospitals due to its high wear resistance and its ability to be applied on concrete and steel surfaces. Although it has a shorter history compared to rubber, its strength is higher. Patterns and guiding lines can be given, and the desired color can be produced. It is a material that can be easily cleaned and requires less maintenance. It does not move and burn after application. However, there are studies showing that polyurethane is a toxic material and carcinogenic when exposed for a long time.

7- What is Tile Floor Covering?

Pieces with a flat surface with a length and width greater than its thickness are called tiles. Tiles can be created from a variety of materials. The fact that it can also be applied to vertical surfaces allows it to be preferred in places where a solid appearance is desired.

a- What is Ceramic Tile?

It consists of a mixture of ceramic, clay, sand and other natural materials. Since they are fired at a lower temperature than other tiles, ceramic tiles with a high rate of fragility only have glaze on their surface. A professional work should be done in practice to prevent breakage. The color option is quite high, it is possible to reach the desired color.

b- What is Porcelain Tile?

The quality of clay in porcelain tile is higher than in ceramic tile. For this reason, its water absorption rate is less than ceramic tiles. Porcelain tiles fired at very high temperatures have high durability. For this reason, this floor coating is widely used outdoors. With its low rate of abrasion and resistance to water, it is similar to natural stones in many respects. There is a glaze on its whole body, this makes it easy to clean.

8- What is Concrete Wiping?

A new surface is obtained by grinding the existing concrete with diamond particle pads. This method provides a long-lasting, durable and functional solution. It is possible to choose the matte and gloss level of the surface. During the application; The old layer is cleaned, it is grinded to obtain a smooth surface, the ground is fed using a silicate-based curing and finally polished with the help of pads. At the end of the process, with a sustainable approach, a low wear and solid material is obtained. In addition to being preferred in places where industrial appearance is preferred, it is also used in markets and warehouses.
